homework, and schoolwork, and housework...oh my!

So last Sunday we had a lecture (yes, lecture not lesson) about how women have this role to be the homemakers. Definition of a homemaker in Mormon land "someone who is a slave to house work, is very under-appreciated, and has no life outside of cleaning, cooking, and making little horrible trinkets to display around the house. (Which I despise, thanks to my sister who had a strict "no crap for decorations" policy the whole time we shared a room.) Don't get me wrong, I want to be a stay-at-home-mother when I grow up. But, don't make me feel guilty for feeding my husband a frozen pizza (again!) or leaving the dishes undone until this weekend because I choose to further my education at this time. There is time for all this homemaking stuff later. Right now I have to worry about writing papers, reading, studing for tests, getting to work on time, writing lesson plans...and so on. I don't even have time for a doctors appointment let alone a Martha Stewart apartment. SO for all you young ladies out there who claim they can do all of this at once, give me your shrinks number...or don't because I don't have time for all that talking.

Why I loved 2007

So many good things happened last year that I decided to dedicated a blog to the year 2007. Yes, I know it's a little late. But I'm convinced the content of this blog will far exceed the negative feelings you have on the account of it being a few weeks late. Here we go:
1) Todd and I had our 1st year anniversary. Yes, one year. We are now old-timers.
2) My sister had Ivy Elizabeth AND went through the temple. Three cheers for Ellen!
3) Matt got married to Cate.
4) I turned 21 and did NOT go to a bar. Turns out 21 feels a lot like 20...and all the ages below that one.
5) The Jackson family went to Hawaii! Yes, be jealous.
6) I got to visit my brother in Cleveland before they moved and make friends with Snoopy before she ran away.
7) Todd and I moved up to freezing Rexburg into an apartment we FINALLY like. It has everything in it and looks good while doing it. (With out costing a bundle)
8) I had time to watch every episode of the Office. And it only took about two weeks.
9) Heather had Isaac!
10) Over all, I got to spend about 4 weeks with my family in Oklahoma! I know it's not a lot, but it's way more than I expected.

So, now I leave it to you. What was your favorite thing about 2007? And keep it clean. ;)
